2024 Scrabble® Mania for Literacy

Join us on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Steinhardt Brewing Company for our SCRABBLE® Mania for Literacy fundraiser! We are excited to partner again with Chris Sparks as our Game Master from Surelocked In Escape Games! This event is for adults 21 and over. Help spread the word with this FLYER!

WHEN: Wednesday, May 8, 2024
TIME: Team/Player Check-In at 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:45 p.m.)
WHERE: Steinhardt Brewing Company 340 East Patrick Street, Frederick, Md. Event entrance is on the Patrick Street Side.

PARKING: Please allow ample time to find parking, as spaces are limited in the immediate vicinity of Steinhardt’s Brewing Company.  Available parking:

  • Steinhardt’s is in the Union Mills Knitting Building, and parking is permitted in these spaces, including for Union Mills
  • Gravel lot across Wisner Street
  • Lot in alley across from Steinhardt’s courtyard
  • Lot at end of Water Street, that turns right and runs along the creek
  • Lot at the corner of Patrick and East Streets
  • Carroll Creek and East All Saints Parking Garages (several blocks away): City of Frederick Parking Garages.
  • Limited street parking is also available (metered) on Patrick and Wisner Streets.
  • Additional parking is available at the lot across Sagner Street, and participants can walk across the footbridge over Carroll Creek.

Note: The lot is no longer available directly across from Steinhardt’s.  Do not park in spaces with towing signs!

TICKET/TEAM FEES: $60/Player or $240/Team of Four Players.

How does it work?

Watch the video to hear Game Master Chris Sparks explain how you play!

  • Scrabble play will be in teams of four individuals. If you are playing on a team of four, please list the names of the other people you will be seated with when you register. We will make every effort to accommodate team requests.
  • Sponsors’ teams will be registered by the Literacy Council.
  • Each team will be provided with a Scrabble board, rules and scoring sheets.
  • The event will include two rounds of Scrabble games, door prize drawing, prizes for winning teams.
  • Sneak peek of online auction which opens on May 8th!
  • Interested in donating an item for our auction? We are seeking donated gift certificates for family and entertainment experiences, restaurants and other items for gift baskets.
